Story

The idea behind the work

The work invites a distance between what happens to us and the meaning we give to experience. Perspective does not always change circumstances, but it can change how we understand them and respond to them.

The meaning in the painting

A stone arch opens a bright threshold, and a suspended hourglass makes the passing of time visible. Together they relate what we cannot stop to the way we choose to look: time flows, yet our judgement can open another perspective. Tones of cream, stone and gold bind fragility to stability.

Craft

A finished work

Materials, frame and finish complete the identity of the work.
